RASAM

Rasam                                                 Portion Size;- 4



Sno                  Ingredients                 Quantity


1)                  arhar dal                     50gms
2)                  Heeng                                     a thick pinch
3)                  Salt                              to taste
4)                  Tamarind pulp           2 tbsp
5)                  Coriander leaves        a few
6)                  Turmeric powder       ½ tsp
7)                  Cumin seeds               1 tsp
8)                  Black pepper             2 tsp
9)                  Garlic                          3-4 flakes
10)              Curry leaves               few
11)              Refined oil                  15 ml
12)              Whole red chilies       3-4


Methods


1)      Pick, wash and soak dal for at least 15 minutes.
2)      Using sufficient water, heeng,turmeric and salt boil dal, till soft and tender, mash dal completely.
3)      Lightly roast cumin and crush along with black pepper powder, garlic flakes.
4)      Blend the above mixture in dal, along with tamarind pulp.
5)      Heat oil in kadhai add a pinch of heeng, curry leaves and whole red chilies.
6)      Adjust seasoning, serve hot garnished with chopped coriander.
