Methods
1)
Pick,
wash and soak dal for 15 minutes.
2)
Boil
dal along with salt and turmeric powder till soft and mushy, mash dal
completely.
3)
Cut
all vegetables in dices (around 1 inch), cut drum sticks in 1 inch pieces, and
slice onions thickly.
4)
Peel
and crush garlic.
5)
Soak
tamarind in hot water for around 30 minutes, squeeze out the pulp.
6)
Heat
oil in kadhai, add mustard seeds, heeng, garlic, curry leaves, red chilly
powder. Add onions and cook for 5 minutes, add all other vegetables and cook
for another 10 minutes.
7)
Add
all vegetables in dal, increase the quantity of water and boil for 10 minutes.
8)
Add
imli pulp and sambhar powder, simmer for 20 minutes.
9)
For
tempering heat oil in kadhai , add whole red chilies, curry leaves and mustard
seeds. Sprinkle over sambar.
